Black Cutworm
Moderate black cutworm migration risks are in the forecast tonight into tomorrow morning from eastern and northeast Iowa into far southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, far southwest lower Michigan, and northern Indiana as a frontal boundary in the area may be a focal point for showers/storms that may serve as a drop zone for migrating moths on south to southwest winds aloft. Low risks extend just west and north of the Moderate risk area, and east into far southwestern Ontario, Canada and Ohio. Flow becomes more westerly over the weekend, so no risks are in the forecast until Monday night into Tuesday next week as southwest flow increases ahead of a developing cold front across the Plains and portions of the western corn-growing region. Low risks will be in the forecast from northeast Kansas and Missouri northeast into the Great Lakes region both Monday and Tuesday nights next week given at least modest southwest flow and potential precipitation into this region.
