Alert Details

A cold front is expected to push across the central and eastern corn-growing region in the next 24-36 hours. Ahead of the front, southwest winds may lead to primarily an isolated black cutworm migration risk especially from Missouri and far eastern Iowa east as far as Ohio and into southern lower Michigan and extreme southern Ontario, Canada tonight into tomorrow morning. A lack of stronger winds and moving into an unfavorable time of year with regards to potential damage specifically from new flights of black cutworms based on crop stage precludes a higher risk at this time. An additional Low migration risk is in the forecast mainly west of Lake Michigan and the I-57 corridor late in the week into next weekend as the next weather system develops across the Plains.
