Alert Details

Low black cutworm migration risks continue in the forecast tonight into tomorrow morning, primarily from northeast Nebraska into northern Iowa, far southeast South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and far northern Illinois as southwest flow may bring some isolated moth flights into this region ahead of a weak cool front moving southeast. The overall setup, however, is not conducive for more widespread flights at this time. Given forecast uncertainty regarding how a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico will develop over the holiday weekend and what it may or may not do to the weather pattern across the corn-growing region, and also given that we are in late May now, no additional black cutworm migration risks are being issued past midday Friday at this time.
