Alert Details

Remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto are expected to move into the eastern corn-growing region over the next few days. Southerly winds aloft, especially to the east of the track of the center of the storm, may lead to some isolated moth flights primarily into lower Michigan and adjacent portions of northeast Indiana, northern Ohio, and southwest lower Ontario, Canada as well. Historically, there have been documented flights of migratory insects tied with hurricanes/tropical systems, so this situation warrants a Low risk especially since planting is running behind in this region. No additional risks are in the forecast at this time.
