Black Cutworm
Remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto are churning over the southeast Illinois/southwest Indiana region this morning. This system is expected to track north northeast today into tonight, and southerly winds to its east may lead to an isolated black cutworm migration risk especially across the eastern half of lower Michigan and far northern Ohio as well as into portions of southwest Ontario, Canada. The greatest risk would occur in any fields that have just recently been planted and where emergence has not occurred yet or has just occurred – earlier planted fields are likely to not see any impact from this particular event. No additional black cutworm migration risks are in the forecast at this time once Alberto moves through the eastern corn-growing region today and tomorrow.
