Alert Details

A low pressure system is slated to move across the corn-growing region this weekend, with a trailing cold front bringing in cooler air for early next week. Southerly winds ahead of the cold front, however, may result in some isolated black cutworm moth flights across a fairly broad area from eastern Kansas and Nebraska as far east as Ohio and also as far north as Minnesota, Wisconsin, and lower Michigan tomorrow night into Sunday. The system overall is not expected to produce really gusty south winds and with many areas only seeing the southerly winds for a day or a little longer, an increase in the risk level is not warranted for this system at this time. Little to no additional risks are in the forecast through early next week.
