Black Cutworm
Black cutworm risks return to the forecast by late week and into the weekend as the weather pattern across the corn-growing region is likely to become active once again. Low pressure is expected to develop across the central Plains while high pressure moves off to the east coast. In between, southerly winds are likely and may pose a black cutworm migration risk initially in fields mainly west of I-57 in Illinois Friday night into Saturday, and then further east into the southern Great Lakes and western Ohio by Saturday night into Sunday as the cold front begins to move east. Fields as far north as Minnesota, Wisconsin, and lower Michigan may see some of these flights by this time, as well.
