Alert Details

A cold front is expected to move across the corn-growing region over the next 24-48 hours and should signal the initial signs of a pattern change across the area. Until the front passes, however, south to southwest winds are expected especially along and east of I-35 from Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa and south of I-80/I-94 today into tomorrow. This region is in a Low black cutworm migration risk during this period, but thereafter little to no migration risks are predicted for the remainder of the week. Growers with emerged corn, however, should continue to scout fields as numerous moth flights in April and early May could now be producing new generations that may find corn attractive at this growth stage.
