Black Cutworm
Black cutworm migration risks return to the forecast by late week and into next weekend as southerly winds commence ahead of a developing low pressure system in the far western Plains. Low risks are predicted mainly west of US 71 and I-35 by Thursday night into Friday, or from far northwestern Missouri into Iowa and Minnesota and points west into the Plains, and then mainly across Nebraska and South/North Dakota Friday night into Saturday morning. No other risks are in the forecast at this time, but growers all across the corn-growing region should be monitoring their fields, especially those that have emerged in the past few weeks, for signs of black cutworms especially if a flight was observed locally last month.
