Alert Details

A deep area of low pressure will meander across the central and eastern corn-growing region for the rest of this week, keeping northwest flow in place and limiting black cutworm migration risks. By the weekend and into next week, however, the weather pattern is expected to change and a more active regime is likely. The result will be more chances for black cutworm migration. Low risks are already in place mainly west of Lake Michigan from Kansas, Nebraska, and eastern South Dakota as far east as Wisconsin and Illinois Saturday night into Sunday, and then from the I-35 corridor east into the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region Sunday night into Monday. Risk upgrades are probable for next week with greater migration risks likely focusing over the central/eastern corn-growing region once again next week so stay tuned for forecast updates!
