Alert Details

A classic spring storm will impact much of the corn-growing region today into tomorrow, with a wide variety of impacts from a raging blizzard in the northern Plains to severe storms ahead of a cold front in the central and eastern corn-growing region. Southerly winds ahead of the cold front may also lead to a black cutworm moth flight across a potentially large area, with Moderate migration risks predicted tonight into tomorrow from Missouri, Iowa, and southeast Minnesota as far east as lower Michigan and western Ohio. Low risks are found just west of the Moderate risk area but as far east as southern Ontario, Canada and Ohio as well as eastern Kentucky. Once this system passes, northwest flow will once again become dominant and little to no migration risk is predicted for the balance of the forecast period into next weekend.
