Alert Details

Black cutworm risks will be on the increase heading into the weekend in response to a developing low pressure system in the Plains. Southerly to southeasterly wind flow east of a trailing cold front south of the low pressure may allow for some black cutworm moths to fly north tomorrow night into Saturday especially into eastern Kansas, far eastern Nebraska, and eastern South Dakota as far east as western Indiana and north into Minnesota and Wisconsin. As the cold front pushes east, migration risks will be confined to areas generally along/just west of the I-55 corridor from south central Missouri into Illinois and points east. Little to no risk is predicted early next week at this time once this system departs, but growers should continue monitoring traps and document when flights occur.
