Black Cutworm
A change in the weather pattern late in the weekend and into next week may lead to more opportunities for black cutworm migration across at least a portion of the corn-growing region. Until then, little to no risk is predicted, however, with northwest flow in place and weather systems mainly tracking too far south to allow any migration to the north. With southerly winds increasing especially in the eastern Plains and portions of the western/central corn-growing region, Low migration risks are back in the forecast mainly west of Lake Michigan Saturday night into Sunday, and then gradually advance east into the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region by early in the week. It is possible that some elevated or more focused risks may enter the forecast by next week, but some uncertainty in the placement of key weather elements precludes these risks at this time so stay tuned.
