Alert Details

A cold front is likely to push southeast through the corn-growing region over the next 24-48 hours. South to southwest winds are still present to the east of the front, but given the decaying state of the parent low pressure system in the northern Plains, wind flow is much weaker in comparison to last week and over the weekend. Even so, some isolated black cutworm moth flights will remain possible especially along and east of I-35, or from far northeast Kansas and Missouri into eastern Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and points east into the southern Great Lakes region and eastern corn-growing area. No additional migration risks are predicted after midday tomorrow as northwest flow reestablishes itself across the corn-growing region into next weekend.
