Black Cutworm
As one strong weather system departs at the beginning of the week, another is expected to be pretty close on its heels by mid-late week, bringing another potential black cutworm migration event to portions of the corn-growing region. Low pressure is expected to develop across the High Plains by tomorrow, and southerly winds may lead to some moth flights mainly west of the I-57 corridor in eastern Illinois and as far north as South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin tomorrow night into Wednesday. As a cold front moves east, Low risks shift east with the front and focus mainly east of I-35 by Wednesday night into Thursday. There is some uncertainty heading into late week, as another low pressure may ride northeast along the front by Friday into Saturday, so stay tuned for future forecast refinements heading into mid-week once the picture becomes clearer.
