Black Cutworm
Black cutworm migration risks are in the forecast for the next several nights as a cold front somewhat slowly works its way to the east through the corn-growing region. Rather modest south to southwest winds are expected east of the front with origination in the south/mid-south region, so only Low risks are predicted at this time. Low risks are in the forecast tonight into tomorrow from eastern Kansas into Missouri, Iowa, southern Minnesota and Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and southwest lower Michigan as well as western Kentucky. Low risks then focus mainly along/east of the I-35 corridor from eastern Kansas northeast into southeastern Minnesota this weekend, with better migration chances across the southern Great Lakes into the eastern corn-growing region by late in the weekend and early next week.
