Alert Details

After little to no black cutworm migration risk at the start of the next five days, risks return to the forecast by later Saturday into Sunday and then continue again into next week with no less than two separate systems. The second system next week bears watching as it may provide the next more widespread and greater black cutworm migration risk by that time. The first risk Saturday into Sunday is mainly focused from eastern Kansas, Missouri, eastern Iowa, and southern Wisconsin and points east as southwest winds on increasing temperatures take hold across the Mississippi and Ohio River valleys ahead of the first system. The second and likely stronger system early next week may provide a more widespread migration risk from as far west as Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota east into the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region by next Monday-Tuesday and potentially beyond. Stay tuned for updates on this system in tomorrow’s forecast!
