Alert Details

Moderate black cutworm migration risks continue in the forecast tonight into tomorrow morning mainly focused across the eastern corn-growing region as a strong weather system moves through the area. Gusty south to southwest winds may bring scattered moth flights into areas from eastern Missouri, Illinois, southeast Wisconsin, northern Kentucky, Indiana, much of Ohio, lower Michigan, and far southwest Ontario, Canada near Detroit where a Moderate risk is in place. Once a cold front pushes east by tomorrow, little to no additional migration risks are predicted through the rest of the week and into the weekend. Growers, however, should monitor traps and be prepared to begin heat unit accumulations for this insect based on local moth flights, especially with planting now underway in some areas.
