Black Cutworm
Black cutworm migration risks return to the forecast across a large portion of the corn-growing region by late this week and into next weekend. The weather pattern is predicted to become more active by that time, and additional black cutworm moth flights are probable into at least portions of the corn-growing region. Low risks mainly focus west of Lake Michigan by Thursday night into Friday, and then advance east into the Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region by Friday night into Saturday. Additional risks are likely beyond this forecast cycle into early next week, also, as are elevated risk levels once we approach the time frame and confidence in precipitation placement increases. Growers should continue to monitor traps and be prepared for additional flights by next weekend and into early next week, as well.
