Alert Details

Low black cutworm migration risks return to the forecast Saturday night into Sunday and again Sunday night into Monday as another low pressure system and cold front moves across especially the southern and southeastern portion of the corn-growing region. Low risks do extend as far north as I-90 and I-94 west of Lake Michigan on Saturday night with the risk then focusing mainly across the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region Sunday night into Monday as the front moves east. Better migration chances with this event seem focused mainly east of the Mississippi River and south of the I-94 corridor in lower Michigan and points south, but some flights could occur as far north as southern Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well. Growers should continue scouting and trapping efforts until corn exceeds critical growth stages where damage from this particular insect is negligible, if any.
