Alert Details

A couple of low pressure systems are likely to traverse the corn-growing region over the holiday weekend. South to southwest winds in advance of the second cold front later in the weekend may result in some isolated black cutworm moth flights initially west of Lake Michigan and the I-57 corridor in eastern Illinois tomorrow night into Sunday. Low risks then focus east of I-57 Sunday night into Monday as the front moves east. Growers should continue trapping and scouting efforts especially in areas where corn is or has just emerged and may be at a critical stage of growth with respect to potential black cutworm damage.
