Alert Details

Moderate black cutworm migration risks are predicted tonight into tomorrow for portions of Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and lower Michigan as a pretty strong fetch of south to southwest winds ahead of a cold front blows north from Texas. Showers and thunderstorms may serve as favorable regions for insect drop-out along and east of this front. As the cold front moves east tomorrow into Saturday, the subsequent risk also shifts east but winds are not expected to be as strong, so Low risks are in place tomorrow night into Saturday for fields mainly in the southeastern corn-growing region, or east of a line from near Springfield, Missouri to Chicago, Illinois. Little to no additional migration risk is predicted after Saturday, but trends will be monitored to see what a late weekend/early week system does – any risk at that time will be across the eastern corn-growing region.
