Alert Details

Low black cutworm migration risks are predicted tonight into Thursday as low pressure deepens across the northern Plains region, and also as a cold front begins to move southeast through the corn-growing region. South to southwest winds will become gusty east of this front, and may pose an isolated black cutworm migration risk especially from eastern Kansas and far eastern Nebraska into Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, much of Kentucky, western Ohio, and lower Michigan. The overall risk area was nudged slightly eastward from previous forecasts this week. Flight level winds become increasingly westerly heading into Thursday night into Friday, thus little to no additional migration risk is predicted. Additional risks are likely by next week with another potential weather system at that time, and risks will be introduced to the forecast once the time periods enter the forecast window for this product.
