Alert Details

A cold front is expected to pass through at least the northern and central corn-growing region later today into early tomorrow. A period of southerly to southwesterly winds immediately ahead of the front may lead to some isolated corn earworm moth migration chances especially from central Kansas and Missouri northeast into southeast Nebraska, Iowa, southern Wisconsin, and Illinois tonight into tomorrow, and a Low risk is in place in this area. After tomorrow, however, deep northwest flow is expected to really anchor itself across the central and eastern United States, and this will effectively shut off any sort of connection to active corn earworm moth source regions in the mid-south and southern states due to a lack of established southerly flow. There may still be a few moths that fly north especially later in the week across the far western Plains, but the risk is too low at this time to justify including a risk.
