Corn Earworm
Corn earworm migration risks return to the forecast tomorrow night into Friday morning as south to southwest winds increase ahead of a developing southwest flow weather pattern across especially the southeastern two-thirds of the corn-growing region. Low risks are predicted from Kansas and Missouri northeast as far as Minnesota and Wisconsin. By the weekend, migration risks become more widespread and encompass much of the corn-growing region except the far northwest areas (western/central Dakotas), and a Moderate risk has also been introduced to the forecast from northeast Iowa eastward into Wisconsin, northern/central Illinois, northern Indiana, northwest Ohio, and into lower Michigan for the Saturday night into Sunday time frame. This currently appears to be the most favored window for a potentially larger flight. Please continue to monitor forecasts as thunderstorms in some of these same areas could affect future outlooks.
