Corn Earworm
A couple of cold fronts will likely be passing through the corn-growing region over the next several days, and may pose a corn earworm migration risk especially in late/re-planted fields and also processing/fresh market fields that were intentionally planted late especially in the northern portion of the corn-growing region. The first Low risk is overnight tonight into tomorrow ahead of the first cold front, with fields mainly across northern Indiana, northern Ohio, and lower Michigan as well as portions of southwest Ontario, Canada at risk. Low risks then return to the forecast late in the weekend and early-mid next week ahead of the next, and likely stronger front, with Low risks covering much of the northern corn-growing region from Nebraska and South Dakota as far east as Ontario, Canada and northern Ohio. Growers with crops at susceptible stages of damage from corn earworms should continue monitoring traps and scouting fields until harvest is complete.
