Alert Details

Corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast tomorrow night into Friday from Kansas and Missouri as far north as eastern South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin and east into Illinois as a broad area of light to moderate south to southwest winds blows east of a cold front. Corn earworm populations continue to build across mid-south source regions, but local plants in that area are at a more favorable growth stage than further north, so any flights north are expected to be isolated. Low risks continue Friday night into Saturday especially east of a Springfield, Missouri to Milwaukee, Wisconsin line as the cold front moves southeast. This front is now expected to be more progressive and should limit any migration threat this weekend mainly to Kansas and Missouri and eventually back into the Plains states as southerly winds increase again ahead of another developing low pressure system in the eastern Rockies/western Plains states.
