Corn Earworm
Corn earworm risks appear to be fairly limited until we get into late week and next weekend when at least some more focused southerly wind flow may be possible in western/central fields ahead of a weak low pressure and associated cool front. Low migration risks are predicted for Thursday night into Friday and again late Friday into Saturday across Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, eastern South Dakota, southern Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and western Illinois where southerly winds are expected to be present but likely not overly strong. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to damage from corn earworms, especially fresh market and processing growers, should continue to monitor traps and scout fields until the crop is either past critical stages of growth or harvested.
