Alert Details

Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast tomorrow night into Friday as southerly winds increase modestly ahead of a developing cold front in the Plains states. Low risks are found mainly west of I-35 in Iowa and Minnesota in addition to portions of Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Low risks then expand east into Wisconsin and western Illinois Friday night into Saturday, and finally across the southern Great Lakes region during the weekend. Southerly winds are not expected to be overly strong during this time, thus only Low risks are predicted. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to damage, however, should continue to monitor traps and scout fields as some localized higher level flights will still be possible, just on a more isolated basis.
