Alert Details

Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast tomorrow night into Thursday morning mainly west of the I-35 corridor from eastern Kansas into northwest Missouri, central Iowa, and Minnesota. Generally weak to moderate southerly wind flow originating out of Texas and Oklahoma may lead to some isolated moth flights into this region. Low risks continue in the forecast late week and into the weekend, as well, but primarily west of the Mississippi River as a weak low pressure system and cold front moves across the western and northern corn-growing region. Rather weak wind flow precludes anything higher than a Low risk at this point, but some isolated migration events may occur in some areas so growers need to continue to monitor traps and scout vulnerable fields especially where crops are at a critical growth stage where damage could occur.
