Alert Details

Corn earworm migration risks will be on the increase once again this week as a favorable weather pattern for migration sets back in place. Low risks will initially be focused along/west of the I-35 corridor from northwest Missouri into central Iowa and Minnesota tonight into tomorrow before spreading to along/east of the Mississippi River by tomorrow night into Thursday. Thursday night into Friday appears to be the most favorable setup for potential scattered moth flights, and a Moderate risk is in the forecast as a result across northern and central Iowa into Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and far northwest Illinois with Low risks east to Lake Michigan. As a cold front begins to move south and east by late week and into the weekend, Low risks shift into the southern Great Lakes region but with winds increasing coming from the west and northwest versus the south, little to any additional risk is predicted for the middle of the weekend. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to damage should continue to monitor traps and scout fields as recent flights may be present and new flights could still occur.
