Alert Details

Moderate corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast across portions of northern and central Iowa, southern Minnesota, far western Wisconsin, and extreme northwest Illinois tonight into tomorrow with Low risks as far east as Lake Michigan. A favorable corridor of southerly winds may bring some scattered moth flights into this region. Of greatest concern is transitioning to processing/fresh market crops and late-planted field corn with this corn earworm risk especially given the large acreage of sweet corn in this region. Low risks continue in the forecast tomorrow night into Saturday mainly east of the I-35 corridor as far east as the I-75 corridor but conditions are not quite as favorable as they are predicted to be tonight. Low risks then envelop a large portion of the corn-growing region mainly west of the Great Lakes late in the weekend into early next week as a fairly progressive weather pattern is expected to keep systems running through the corn-growing region for the rest of the month.
