Alert Details

A strong cold front will continue to move southeast through the entire corn-growing region over the next 24-36 hours. Later today into tonight, however, a corridor of gusty southerly winds may lead to some shorter-distance, isolated corn earworm moth flights into any remaining fresh market and processing fields in the southern Great Lakes region and eastern corn-growing region, generally along/east of the I-55 corridor in central/eastern Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into far southern Ontario, Canada. Little if any additional migration risks are in the forecast for the rest of the week as much cooler weather on dominant northwest flow enters the area, just in time for the official start of the autumn season.
