Alert Details

Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast tonight into tomorrow from eastern Kansas into southeast Nebraska, southern Iowa, Missouri, central/southern Illinois, far southwest Indiana, and western Kentucky as southerly winds continue to blow mainly south of a warm front which should move up to near I-80 overnight tonight. This is also the area that a higher percentage of silking field corn is present as well as additional potential vegetable and fresh market host plants resides, thus the justified risk despite somewhat less than favorable wind speeds. Nonetheless, some isolated moth flights are possible and growers in this area should monitor traps and scout fields. Little to no additional migration risk is predicted after tomorrow as the overall wind flow comes from the northwest.
