Corn Earworm
Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast tonight into tomorrow across portions of Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Illinois as a weak cool front moves southeast from the Plains into the corn-growing region. A corridor of south to southwest winds originating primarily in Texas is expected to blow north, and some isolated corn earworm moth flights may accompany these winds later today into tomorrow. Growers with crops at susceptible stages of damage should monitor traps and scout fields in the coming days as some new moths may appear. Otherwise, conditions are not expected to be quite as favorable for migration going into the weekend and early next week, but we will continue to monitor as a frontal boundary will be nearby, but winds are not expected to be as favorable compared to tonight into tomorrow.
