Alert Details

Low corn earworm migration risks re-enter the forecast by Friday night into Saturday as south to southwest winds increase ahead of a southward-advancing cold front. Low risks envelop a fairly large area of the corn-growing region from Kansas, Nebraska, and eastern South Dakota as far east as Lake Michigan and into Illinois during this time. The Low risk then shifts southeast with the front late Saturday into Sunday, and is mainly focused along/southeast of a line from near Wichita, Kansas to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and points southeast of there. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to damage should monitor traps and scout fields as early moth flights have occurred in recent weeks and an uptick in flights into the corn-growing region is possible given favorable weather in the coming weeks.
