Alert Details

A cold front is expected to drop southeast through much, if not all, of the corn-growing region by early next week. South to southwest winds are expected to increase ahead of this front as early as tomorrow, and Low corn earworm migration risks are predicted mainly west of Lake Michigan late tomorrow and continuing into Saturday. Low risks then focus southeast of a line from south central Kansas to north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and points east as the cold front continues southeast Saturday into Sunday. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to damage from corn earworms are encouraged to monitor traps and scout fields as corn earworm are already present in some areas and additional moths may fly north given deteriorating crop conditions in southern source regions due to persistent heat and earlier than average harvest.
