Alert Details

Low corn earworm migration risks return to the forecast Thursday night into Friday mainly west of I-35 as the next weather system develops in the Rocky Mountains and southern Canada. As high pressure eases off to the east, southerly winds are expected to return to the Plains states and western corn-growing region. As next weekend progresses, the Low risk area is expected to expand eastward with a wider expanse of southerly winds as far east as Lake Michigan and the I-57 corridor in eastern Illinois. Growers are advised that despite a lack of early-mid week migration risks, new moth flights likely occurred this past weekend and traps should be checked regularly as should regular field scouting from previous moth flights that may now be in the larval stage.
