Corn Earworm
Little to no corn earworm migration risk is predicted until late in the week and next weekend as northwest flow is expected to remain dominant through the period. Low migration risks are in the forecast as early as Thursday night mainly from Kansas and Missouri northeast as far as eastern South Dakota, Minnesota, and western Wisconsin and then as far east as Lake Michigan and into Wisconsin and Illinois Friday night into Saturday as the next potential weather system moves in by that time. Despite the lack of risks, growers are strongly encouraged to continue monitoring traps and scouting fields as moths are likely present in at least scattered areas, and some flights were documented earlier in the month when weather patterns were more favorable for migration to occur. New larvae may be present, as well, so continued scouting efforts in susceptible fields is recommended.
