Alert Details

An upper level low pressure and attendant cold front will move east through the corn-growing region this weekend. East of the front, modest south to southwest winds are predicted and these winds may carry some corn earworm moths northward. Weak wind speeds overall preclude higher risks, but Low risks are still predicted mainly between I-35 and I-75 tonight into tomorrow, and then mainly east of I-57 tomorrow night into Sunday as the front moves east. Little to no migration risk is currently predicted into the middle of next week after this front moves east, but growers should continue monitoring traps and scouting fields until potentially vulnerable fields are either past critical growth stages or are harvested.
