Alert Details

The corn-growing region weather pattern is expected to change to a more zonal or southwesterly flow by late this week and into the weekend. As a result, south to southwest winds are likely to increase and eventually spread across much of the region by this weekend. The overall pattern is conducive to corn earworm migration, and Low migration risks are in the forecast Friday night into Saturday mainly west of I-35, then west of Lake Michigan and the I-57 corridor Saturday night into Sunday, and finally as far east as southern Ontario, Canada and Ohio/Kentucky by Sunday night into Monday as a cold front begins to move east across the Plains and western corn-growing region. Elevated risks are likely either in tomorrow’s or Friday’s forecast once confidence in rain placement becomes higher so stay tuned!
