Corn Earworm
Low corn earworm migration risks return to the forecast next Monday night through Wednesday mainly west of Lake Michigan and the I-57 corridor in eastern Illinois. A corridor of south to southwest winds is expected to develop early in the week and may lead to some isolated moth flights into this region. Otherwise, weak winds or northwest flow is expected to dominate the weather across much of the corn-growing region so little to no migration risk is predicted up until that point. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to corn earworm damage, however, should continue regular scouting and trapping efforts as both larvae and new moths may both be present in the same area.
