Alert Details

Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast beginning Thursday night and Friday and continuing into the weekend ahead of a cold front expected to pass through the corn-growing region. A rather broad but somewhat modest south to southwest wind regime is likely to develop southeast of the front, and these winds may result in an isolated moth flight into portions of the corn-growing region. Low risks are predicted mainly west of Lake Michigan and I-57 Thursday night into Friday, and then spreading east into the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region over the weekend. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to corn earworm damage, especially processors and fresh market growers, should continue scouting and trapping efforts until harvest.
