Alert Details

A cold front is expected to pass through the corn-growing region mid-late week, and rather subtle or weak south to southwest winds to the east of the front may pose an isolated corn earworm moth migration risk especially later tomorrow night into Wednesday morning. The risk area focuses from eastern Kansas into southeast Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, southeast Minnesota, southern Wisconsin, Illinois, western Kentucky, Indiana, and southwest lower Michigan. Once the front passes, northwest flow and cooler/less humid conditions are expected late in the week and into next weekend so little to no further migration risk is expected. Of greatest risk from this early season flight would be crops in/near susceptible stages from corn earworm damage, especially fresh market and produce crops.
