Corn Earworm
After a somewhat brief break in the cooler temperatures and less humidity for most on northwest flow late this week and into the early part of the weekend, southerly winds are expected to increase once again by Saturday and continue to the east of a cold front moving into the corn-growing region by Sunday and Monday. This may be a fairly potent system for July, and resultant migration risks may need to be increased later this week especially for the fresh market and produce growers who would be most impacted at this time of year. Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast Sunday night into Monday mainly along/east of I-35 all the way to the I-75 corridor in southeast lower Michigan, western Ohio, and central Kentucky as this front begins to move southeast. Continue to monitor forecasts for potential updates as confidence increases closer to the potential event.
