Alert Details

Low corn earworm migration risks are predicted tonight into tomorrow mainly across the southern portion of the corn-growing region. Overall weak southerly wind flow is expected from eastern Kansas, far southeast Nebraska, southern Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and western Kentucky along with some precipitation chances, thus the Low risk in these areas. Northwest flow returns as this system departs so little to no migration risk is predicted until later Saturday. Low risks return to the forecast at that time mainly east of I-35 into the Mississippi River valley, and then as far east as the I-75 corridor by Sunday night into Monday. With an overall northwest flow dominated weather pattern and generally weaker southerly winds, only Low migration risks are predicted but growers should continue to monitor traps and scout fields as flights will still be possible in or near the risk areas, but will generally be lighter and more isolated in nature.
