Alert Details

Corn earworm migration risks return to the forecast this weekend and early next week as the next low pressure system moves through the corn-growing region. Low risks are predicted Saturday night into Sunday generally along/east of the I-35 corridor into the southwestern Great Lakes region, or from far eastern Kansas, Missouri, and central Iowa east into lower Michigan, Indiana, and western Kentucky, and as far north as southern Wisconsin. Southerly winds are expected east of a trailing cold front south of a low pressure system, but are not expected to be overly strong. Low risks continue in the forecast Sunday night into Monday as the front continues moving east, with most migration risks focused east of the Mississippi River and especially into the southern Great Lakes area by that time. Risk upgrades for early next week are possible in this area if the current projections hold.
