Corn Earworm
A very progressive northwest flow weather pattern is expected to remain in place across much of the corn-growing region into next week. As a result, corn earworm migration risks are rather low and primarily limited to tomorrow night into Saturday as a corridor of southerly winds sets up from the mid-south region into primarily the central and eastern corn-growing region. The rather short duration of southerly winds along with overall weaker wind speeds precludes anything more than a Low risk from eastern Kansas, Missouri, and eastern Iowa east as far as southern lower Michigan and western Ohio. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to damage, however, should continue to monitor traps and scout fields as some flights likely occurred late in July and early August with more isolated flights possible since that time.
