Corn Earworm
A cold front will move through the central and eastern portion of the corn-growing region in the next 24-36 hours. Ahead of the front, southwesterly winds are expected and Low corn earworm migration risks are predicted from eastern Kansas into Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, southern lower Michigan, western Ohio, and Kentucky through noon Saturday. A brief break in the southerly winds is anticipated later Saturday into Sunday, but already the next system in a fast, progressive northwesterly flow regime is expected by Sunday into Monday. Low migration risks are back in the forecast mainly east of I-35 into the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region by that time. Once this system moves through, little if any additional risks are predicted early next week but migration risks are likely to return to the forecast by the middle of next week.
