Corn Earworm
Corn earworm migration risks return to the forecast by late in the week and next weekend as a weather pattern change looks in store by that time. Initially, northwest flow is likely to dominate the weather this week, but by late week and likely into at least early next week, we should see more southerly wind flow occur initially in the Plains states but eventually pushing east across a good portion of the corn-growing region. Low corn earworm migration risks are initially in place mainly west of the Mississippi River Thursday night into Friday, but do expand east into the southwestern Great Lakes and even portions of the eastern corn-growing region (Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky) by Saturday. Growers are encouraged to monitor traps and continue to scout fields as the possibility for new flights may exist within the next 5-7 days.
